In November of 2017 we participated in a gamejam. The gamejam was centered around making a game to introduce a new environmental law that’s coming up. We participed in the weeklong event and emerged victorious after facing a few extremely good game concepts. With the victory came a prize, the opportunity to co-create the game with the Goverment to entertain and inform people about the new law.
“Buurtje Bouwen” is a Serious Game revolving around teaching both teenagers and adults to look at a scenario from a different perspective, and learn how to deal with and accommodate all kinds of different interests whilst still holding true to your own.
The game centers around setting up a plan, by the neighbourhood, for the neigbourhood. You play, together with others, a character who either lives or has an interest in the neighbourhood. Scenario’s vary from planning your backyards, to a big event. You play locally connected to phones in groups of 3 to 5. And battle it out in a game of wits, bluffing and solid honesty!
Communicate with your team to find the perfect balance between the planning and bluffing to get the best possible score!
